Why should you visit the Giraffe Centre?
Encourages conservation
The highly endangered Rothschild giraffe is preserved in large part by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Giraffe Center, also known as The Giraffe Centre locally.
This particular species of giraffe differs from other giraffe subspecies as they have no patterning below the knee.

Before the start of conservation efforts, there were only about 100 Rothschild giraffes left in the wild; numbers were rapidly decreasing due to habitat loss and widespread killing.
After raising a Rothschild giraffe named Daisy in their Langata house, Betty and Jock Leslie Melville established the charity in 1979. Today, 300 Rothschild giraffes are living throughout Kenya thanks to their conservation activities.
